Residents Rights at Independence House

At Independence House Nursing Home we work actively with clients and caregivers to find and maintain the proper level of care for each individual.

For this reason, we provide apartments, assisted-living units, and provide 24-hour skilled nursing care at our Independence Road campus.

Established in 1991
Independence House was established in 1991 by the Manley family. It is presently owned and operated by Blanchard Valley Continuing Care Services. This beautiful nursing home, rehabilitation facility, assisted-living units, and independent apartments has long been synonymous with quality long-term care, and this reputation today is being enhanced on the Independence Road campus.

Today, Bridgett Mundy is the administrator at Independence House.

Pool, Spa Make Big Splash For Rehabilitation, Recreation
Both residents in the Independence Place apartments and the Independence House Nursing Home poolIndependence House nursing home enjoy the swimming pool and spa in the 3,900 square-foot rehabilitation wing. Residents are regular users of both the pool and the heated spa. The warm waters of both the spa and the pool are therapeutic for persons with arthritis and Parkinson’s disease.

The pool is also scheduled three times a week for outpatient use. It is also used in the therapy program. Physical Therapy at Independence House

The exercise area is likewise popular both for therapy and for individual fitness. Again both residents of the apartments and the nursing home care wings are active in the exercise area.

Respite Care
Are you one of the millions of Americans that are caring for a senior in your homes? Independence House offers a program designed to give those you a break -- respite care.

Respite care is designed to give caregivers a break for a few days or a few weeks. Loved ones can enjoy a private room, a wide range of social opportunities and activities which include the use of the fitness center, pool, and spa.

Care is appropriate to the client’s needs. We will provide meals, snacks, and will assist with medications, dressing, and other personal needs. Rates depend on the level of care necessary. Call Bridgett Mundy (419) 435-8505 for details.

Our Philosophy
On our campus, residents are viewed as clients. We believe it is our responsibility to respond to each client's individual
needs for assistance and rehabilitation. In some cases, this includes returning home.

Doctors Do Make House Calls
Yes, doctors still make house calls...at least if their patients are residents at Independence House.

Since it is difficult for some residents who are 85, 90 years old to get to the doctor’s office, Independence House appreciates the special efforts that local physicians make to visit their patients where they live. In many long-term care facilities, residents are seen only by the staff physician. At Independence House, they see their family doctor.

Those physicians who make regular "house calls" on their patients every month at Independence House include: Dr. Tim Beidelschies, Dr. Solomon Erulkar, Dr. Naghmana Masood, Dr. David Lali, and Dr. G. R. Korrapati.
